Killer Whales have many different ways to hunt their food. Killer Whales like the one on the right are called Resident Killer Whales. They stay in one spot and hunt fish. They hunt fish called herring. They work together to corral the fish in a huge ball. Then whales will smack the herring with their powerful tail flukes. The stunned fish are easy targets for the killer whales.

Killer Whales like the one on the left are called Transient Killer Whales. They move from place to place hunting mammals. They hunt birds, seals, sea lions, and other whales. They may take a land animal that is swimming across a canal.
